When Devotion Looks Different

I’ve always found peace in quiet spaces — even on weekends or holidays. Back in Socorro, I’d stay in the school office long after everyone went home, and now here in Manila, I sometimes work alone in our building when it’s empty.
People often ask, “Why are you still here?” Maybe they find it strange — this constant drive to improve, to refine myself, to show up even when no one else does.
But today, I realized something. It’s not that they dislike me or see me as weird. They just see through a different lens — one shaped by “work-life balance,” while mine is shaped by devotion.
Most people work to rest. I rest through my work. It’s not about overworking or proving anything — it’s about finding stillness in creation, discipline in silence, and meaning in mastery.
The world may not always understand that rhythm — but that’s okay. I’ll keep honoring the fire to grow, and at the same time, stay gentle toward those who move differently.
Because in truth, devotion and balance aren’t opposites. They’re just different melodies of the same song of becoming. 🎹✨
